Senior Maintenance Engineer

Statement of Purpose

The Senior Engineer is essential to our success at the Key Biscayne Yacht Club. The Senior Engineer plays a direct role in each and every Member’s experience. They know how to help their coworkers while also having the ability to know when to ask for help. The Senior Engineer is responsible for managing and coordinating all club general maintenance and repairs of electrical, plumbing, HVAC, carpentry, equipment, furniture, masonry, painting and building structure in addition to other responsibilities. Each Senior Engineer goes above and beyond to ensure the grounds and club facility needs are met to exceed Member expectations.

Primary Duties

· Oversees the day-to-day operations of the maintenance department.

· Assists in hiring, training, coaching and developing maintenance staff.

· Manages and coordinates servicing and repair of systems for of electrical, plumbing, HVAC, carpentry, equipment, furniture, masonry, painting, building structure, and related maintenance activities.

· Monitors all work done by vendors and communicates the status of each project to the Facilities Director.

· Works in conjunction with Facilities Director on cost estimates for budgeting and contract review purposes.

· Supervises the maintenance of the parking lot, tennis courts, swimming pool, and other recreational areas.

· Collects maintenance and work requests from department and committee heads for approval by the Facilities Director. Utilizes Club software for daily work order management.

· Ensures that all club maintenance and repairs are identified, scheduled, and completed in a timely manner.

· Advises Facilities Director on long-term and short-term requirements for repairs and maintenance, capital replacement and capital requirements.

· Maintains inventory of maintenance, repair, and related supplies. Orders necessary parts for repair projects.

· Performs routine preventative maintenance frequently as required.

· Responds to emergencies as needed. Assists in the preparation for approaching hurricanes and other weather events.

· Assists with preparation for special functions and parties by installing decorations, lighting, tables, etc.

· Installation skills of tile work, drywall patching and installation, brick and paver repair, and grout work.

· Conducts repairs to plumbing such as leaking pipes and faucets as well as clogged drains.

· Keeps work shop area safe, clean, and well-lighted.

· Performs all other tasks that may be deemed necessary and appropriate by the Facilities Director.
