About the Race
Since 1989, the FICPA Educational Foundation has hosted a 5K Run/Walk in South Florida. On Saturday, April 20, 2013 we will start a new tradition and host our 24th annual race, the FICPA Educational Foundation Money Run, in Bill Baggs State Park in Key Biscayne, FL.
The Money Run will be held the Saturday after tax day – Saturday, April 20, 2013, at 7:45 a.m. in Bill Baggs State Park in Key Biscayne. Proceeds from the event will be awarded to African-American accounting students in South Florida in memory of Lewis Davis, Miami-Dade County’s first African-American CPA, community leader and co-founder of the Greater Miami-South Florida Chapter – National Association of Black Accountants, Inc.
This annual event has tremendous local support and has become a great experience for families and co-workers to get together for fun and exercise while contributing to a very worthwhile scholarship fund. All runners are invited to participate in the Money Run. It is important to continue this great support, and we hope you join us again in Key Biscayne!
Since its inception, the Money Run (formerly the 1040K) has raised more than $250,000 in scholarship funds. At the race, the FICPA Educational Foundation presented several $3,000 scholarships to deserving accountings students.
Thanks to the support of our sponsors, the FICPA Educational Foundation has increased the amount and the number of scholarships awarded to students each year. The Money Run Board of Directors would like to thank the runners and walkers who will contribute to the future of the CPA profession by participating in this race.
