Commenoz Gallery is proud to present a one woman show of new work from French artist Colette Birambo, who will be flying in from Paris for the show and cocktail reception on Thursday, March 17 from 6 to 9pm at the Commenoz Gallery in the Galleria Shopping Mall.
The show is entitled "Colette goes Tripping in The Tropics"
A book of her photographs containing a limited edition has been published for this occasion. A portion of the proceeds from this sale will benefit The American Cancer Society.
Working and living in Paris, Colette has created through her art a Universe of her own. Vivid colors found in tropical places fill her work. By using her digital camera, she chooses images that later she manipulates in her computer, producing a collage effect of several images that gives us a new re-created reality. There are diverse shapes, identifiable signs borrowed from many of the world's cultures which bears witness to an insatiable curiosity. There is an underlying element of discovery that fuels her art both mentally and technically. In her own words: "I See things through Colors, Forms, Rhythms, Textures, Always Looking for a space, a ray of light”. Colette has been coming to Miami for the past 25 years, fascinated by the light and colors that she finds in this city, where she has snatched through her lens moments that cannot be reproduced.
