The Key Biscayne Community Foundation’s Citizen Scientist Project is holding its Key Challenge awards ceremony Wednesday, May 2 from 6-8 p.m. at the Turtle Fountain at Village Hall. The awards ceremony was delayed by a week due to the strong participation and many excellent submissions, organizers say. The challenge incorporates four disciplines: art, writing, informatics and science. The disciplines are further broken down into individual and/or group challenges open to various grade levels. This year’s Key Challenge theme is “human impact,” reflecting the significant impact humans have on all environments. Organizers note aquatic and shoreline environments in particular have been critical to Key Biscayne’s development and history, so they are focusing on how humans impact these environments.
