The event starts at 6:00 pm. Reverend Susan will begin to bless all animals promptly at 6:15 pm.
Blessing of the Animals is a tradition founded by St. Francis of Assisi who believed that all of God’s creatures (not just humans) deserved to be blessed. After his passing, churches and families around the world began to hold blessings for their pets.
In addition to pets, Reverend Susan will bless in gratitude the life of KB Veterinarian Dr. Adair Alspach Bush. Dr. Adair devoted her life to the wellness of owned and homeless animals on Key Biscayne and elsewhere throughout the world. She was committed to her work, devoted to loved ones, and beloved by those whose lives she touched.
Families attending the Blessing of the Animals are invited to bring donations for homeless dogs and cats. Donation boxes will be on hand to accept: wet or dry dog and cat food; toys, chew bones; collars, leashes, beds, towels & blankets; bowls, crates and carriers. Items can be new or used.
Event organizers hope to see all animal lovers and pet owners join the Blessing of the Animals event on October 6th! This is a great community event for all families!
