For a number of years, the Florida legislature has authorized sales-tax-free days for basic school supplies in advance of the opening of a new school year. The 2017 sales-tax holiday is a 3-day event beginning at 12:01 a.m., Friday, August 4th and ending at midnight Sunday, August 6th. No Florida sales-tax or local-option tax will be collected during this time on sales of clothing, footwear, and certain clothing accessories selling for $60 or less per item, on certain school supplies selling for $15 or less per item, or on personal computers and related accessories purchased for noncommercial home or personal use and priced $750 or less.
