"Heritage Monitoring Scouts (HMS) Florida is a statewide citizen science program, managed by the Florida Public Archaeology Network, that focuses on tracking changes to archaeological sites at risk. The Virginia Key Beach Park Trust has partnered with the HMS program to focus on Historic Virginia Key Beach Park, which has been impacted by climate change. These changes will be tracked through the form of erosion and sea level rise that is found.
The community is invited to apply to the program to help collect data and photos from Historic Virginia Key Beach Park. This information will be compiled in the HMS Florida Arches database, which will be available to researchers, land managers, and others to aid in making management and mitigation decisions that affect their backyard."
