Join the Miami-Dade County Department of Transportation and Public Works and Village of Key Biscayne staff for a presentation on the Rickenbacker Causeway Master Plan on Tuesday, November 19, at 6:00 PM in the Key Biscayne Community Center's Lighthouse Room.
County staff will present their latest version of the Rickenbacker Causeway Master Plan and, most importantly, seek your input!
The Village has been collaborating with the County on this plan over the past year, with a focus on four main objectives:
- Improving vehicular traffic flow by enhancing throughput and managing traffic during current and future events on Virginia Key.
- Enhancing connections and access on Virginia Key by improving intersections and access to destinations, venues, and events, thereby reducing traffic congestion. The plan must also support emergency and evacuation route requirements.
- Separating bicycle and pedestrian traffic by creating a physical division between vehicle traffic and bicycle & pedestrian recreational use.
- Developing high quality facilities that are environmentally sustainable, resilient, and appropriate given the context of the study area.
Let’s make this a productive meeting where we can share ideas and find the best solutions together.
