It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of former Village Manager and Fire Chief John Gilbert, a dedicated public servant with more than 40 years of service. He began his career with the Miami Fire Department in 1972 and later helped establish the Key Biscayne Fire Rescue Department, serving as Deputy Fire Chief, Fire Chief, and Village Manager. He will be remembered for his leadership, integrity, and lasting impact on the Village of Key Biscayne. Our deepest condolences to his family, friends, and colleagues.
A Memorial Remembrance will be held Friday, January 30, at 11:00 a.m. at Fire Station 1
