Jesus Blanco has a Bachelor of Science in Environmental Studies from FIU and managed a terrestrial ecology research lab there for four years. He has worked in all the habitats of the Everglades studying vegetation communities along environmental gradients. As a child, he was fascinated with all kinds of animal life, from the single-celled aquatic life forms to monstrous pythons. Currently, Jesus is the coordinator for the FIU Farmers program, helping veterans and the underrepresented learn about farming by providing hands-on technical experience through networking with local farmers. He recently partnered with a local apiary and will head the queen-rearing project. Jesus also has experience raising and keeping insects and arachnids as a hobby.
