Tues 9/24-Tues 10/22/19: Learn to paint or enhance your skills during this 5-week, small group art class with instruction by renowned local pastel artist Jacqueline Roch. Beginning students, as well as experienced painters, can explore new materials and techniques whether with graphite, watercolors, color pencils, pastel or acrylics and oils. Play in your sketchbook, draw with graphite, explore watercolors and acrylics or dive into pastels to expand your artistic talents.
Open to adults 18+, all mediums, all levels. Materials list will be provided upon registration.
NOTE: Each session includes instruction and live painting Session 1: Introduction Tues, Sep 24: 10 am-1 pm: Lecture/demo with Photo Safari around Bear Cut Preserve and the Biscayne Nature Center. Students will prepare sketchbooks.
Session 2: Still Life Tues, Oct 1: 10 am-1 pm: The importance of a still life, bring in an object that you would like to add to the composition. Students will concentrate on good composition, contrast and unity.
Session 3: Color Tues, Oct 8: 10 am-1 pm: All about color and mixing new values in any media. Students will focus on one tropical subject, e.g., flower, leaf, fruit, shell.
Session 4: Lighting Tues, Oct 15: 10 am-1 pm: Good lighting is key to setting the mood. Students will work from original photos.
Session 5: Plein Air Tues, Oct 22: 10 am-1 pm: Putting it all together! Students will paint the landscape.
