DESCRIPTION:Key Biscayne's police officers and firefighters work hard to keep the community safe   but they're more than just a badge and a uniform.\n\n\n\nPublic Safety Day is the annual opportunity for residents to get to know the men and women of the Key Biscayne Police and Fire-Rescue Departments\, and organizers are looking forward to welcoming the community to the fun\, educational event.\n\n\n\nPublic Safety Day is set for Saturday\, February 24 from noon-4 p.m. at Village Hall.\n\n\n\nPolice Officer Martina Doino noted\, "Public Safety Day gives the residents of Key Biscayne the opportunity to meet the men and women of the Key Biscayne police and fire departments. The event is free\, and residents can come learn about the Key Biscayne Police and Fire departments. It's a fun family event."\n\n\n\nIt's also a chance to learn about\, experience and take advantage of the wealth of public safety services available on the Key.\n\n\n\nDoino said residents will be education on fire prevention and crime preventions and can take in the latest police and fire tactics.\n\n\n\nA paper shredding truck will be onsite to help with the safe and confidential disposal of personal information\, police officers will be registering bikes and pets\, firefighter/paramedics will be teaching residents to perform CPR\, and participants will even get a chance to spray a fire hose and try out the police department's Drunk Buster course\, which uses special goggles to mimic just how difficult it is to drive under the influence of drugs or alcohol.\n\n\n\nThere are also plenty of fun\, family-friendly activities onsite.\n\n\n\nDoino said Public Safety Day features music\, games\, free giveaways\, dunk tanks with the police and fire chief\, an obstacle course\, bounce houses and face painting.\n\n\n\nDoino said the event typically draws about 400 residents\, and encouraged everyone to come out to learn about public safety\, get to know police officers and firefighters and have a good time.
